Besides using Global Issues websites and standard search engines there is a wealth of informational multimedia, both audio and video, available on the internet from various news organizations and Issues oriented websites.
Things to be aware of:
  • Some sites may ask you to register to access certain “free” content. This is a personal decision. Remember to look at the various terms of a membership agreement and be aware of any selections that allow you to “opt out” of getting a newsletter or offers from the site sponsors.

  • Often the story you are interested in may be buried in a longer news/informational program. You may need to listen to or scan a much longer audio file to get to the “news story” that relates to your topic. Patience can reap great rewards.

  • If the site offers you the option of downloading a podcast or MP3 file be sure to save the file to a media folder on your H:/ drive so that you can access it from any computer on the network at a later time.

  • Remember that in nearly all cases these are copyrighted materials be sure to indicate where they were gotten from and who created them. Even if something is a downloadable podcast you are not given total free reign to copy or distribute without at the very least indicating the original creator of the work.
